Marked Screenshots
Make a visual request easier to understand by showing the exact detail while explaining what you want.
Summary
“Use these numbers” is clearer when the person or agent receiving the request can see which numbers you mean. Marked screenshots connect your words to a visible detail. Point or draw while making a request, and Denker includes that visual context with your instruction. You can use it to explain a design change, ask about a chart or dictate a message with the relevant images attached in a compatible app.
Key points
- Show where the request belongs. A mark singles out the button, row or chart detail you mean, making the target easier to communicate.
- Give the visual a purpose through your words. Explain the change or question while marking the detail, so the image and instruction work together.
- Keep each image tied to its instruction. Name the train expense and dinner in your dictation, then preserve those references when rewriting or translating the message.
Show the two expenses your message refers to
Suppose you need a colleague to categorize train tickets as travel and dinner as meals. Mark the train expense while explaining the first request, then show and mark the dinner expense. The images identify the entries; the words explain how each should be categorized.
The accompanying illustration follows this scenario through English dictation and a German reply. The recipient gets a written request with visual references to the expenses being discussed. The same principle helps when an agent needs to know which part of an app you want changed.
Please categorize these train tickets as travel and this dinner as meals. I’ve marked both expenses.
Mark the detail while explaining it
Open Denker’s input from the app where the request begins. While the request is active, use Shift-drag to mark the relevant area. Keep the item and enough surrounding context visible for the image to make sense.
A screenshot captures the visible view. If a chart question needs exact calculations, provide its underlying values as well. If the screen changes, capture the current detail for the next part of your explanation.
- Open the relevant app and Denker’s request input.
- Hold Shift and drag around the first detail while explaining it.
- Show and mark another view if the request needs a second reference.
- State the output you want, such as a reply or a coding change.
Carry the reference into a useful message
When dictating, choose a finish such as concise wording or a German translation. Describe which expense each image shows and ask the prompt to preserve that connection. If your installed build adds numbered screenshot references, keep those labels with the corresponding sentences.
Use a receiving app that accepts image pastes, then read the message beside its attachments. Multiple marks on one unchanged view can share an image. For the expense request, check that the travel instruction refers to the train tickets and the meals instruction refers to dinner before sending.
